Little Bamboo (Harlem) opened in January 2016, when Jimmy and Jodi (our founders) returned to NYC after living in St. Maarten for almost a decade. Upon their return home, the pair sought out a multi-cultural environment akin to St. Maarten, but with NYC energy. And they found Harlem, or actually Harlem found them, when their young son Dylan opted to attend a Harlem-based school. With them they brought Little Bamboo. Created on the tropical Caribbean Island of St. Maarten about 15 years ago, Little Bamboo (Harlem) is an offshoot of the team’s two St. Maarten-based restaurants: Bamboo, and (please insert link to little bamboo-sxm).
Bamboo (2002) is one of the island’s leading full-service restaurants/lounges offering a world class Sushi Bar that has been described by many publications as “NY Style Sushi with a Caribbean twist.” Little Bamboo (Sint Maarten) (2014) is the highly popular, fast-casual version of its larger “sister” restaurant, developed for those needing a quick “fix” of their favorite Bamboo Sushi and Sashimi.
Each features a Caribbean-infused, globally influenced contemporary menu inspired by the multi-cultural environment that is Sint Maarten. Between them, they serve award winning, cutting-edge Latin and Asian-Fusion dishes, Sushi, Sashimi, Salads and Rice Bowls, with bold and exotic flavors, as well as innovative drinks mixed by an international team of mixologists.
Harlem, New York is perhaps the most vibrant neighborhood in Manhattan. Harlem’s brilliant architecture of 19th century brownstones and row houses, its wide avenues, and its African American Soul, put it in the center of a true New York renaissance, and Harlem has become a multi-cultural mosaic of people representing numerous and varying tastes.
Little Bamboo sits in the heart of Harlem, where it draws from its surroundings to meld traditional and exotic flavors, and provides a unique, casual dining experience. We offer not only traditional Sushi and Sashimi, but also innovative Poke and Sushi Rolls, infused with Caribbean tastes, and so much more. We view Sushi as edible art form where the canvass is constantly evolving. We purchase only the freshest ingredients available. Where possible, we purchase organic and locally sourced items.
Our Special Rolls – whether you are looking for fish, poultry, lamb or pure vegetarian – are sure to delight, with their creative mix of tantalizing exotic ingredients. Our Rice Bowls are light, but feature bold and savory flavors. Our signature seared Edamame is truly a unique experience, glazed with a sweet teriyaki sauce. Our Salads are fresh and filling. And our dessert menu features the creative Dylan Dessert Roll, as well as our authentic, Asian-inspired French Macaroons.
Little Bamboo Harlem houses our stunning, Asian-influenced, rustic-yet-urban industrial Le Bar, featuring an extensive wine selection with more than 20 types of wines by the glass, exotic and craft beers on tap, and unique, Asian-inspired cocktails made by true mixologists.
Le Bar plays a variety of music, and our bar staff loves Latin riffs, Jazz and Global beats. On weekends, Le Bar features a diverse range of live music. You are as likely to catch a Cuban Salsa band, as you are a Harlem-based Jazz Singer, a Soul and Blues Band, or an African Music Trio. Music starts at 8 PM and continues until 11 PM.
We are proud of Little Bamboo/Le Bar @ Little Bamboo, and we hope you will enjoy your dining and nightlight experience with us!
